Mexican Watermelon Fresca

Fresh fruit waters, or Aguas de Frutas, made with crushed or blended fruit are a common and popular drink all over Mexico. This recipe is extremely flavorful and refreshing, especially when fresh strawberries are in season.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Watermelon ( chopped )
  • 6 cups Water
  • 3 tablespoons Cane Sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Lime ( Juice)
  • 3 Lime ( Edges )

  1. Place the chopped watermelon in a blender with 2 cups of the water and puree until smooth. Do this step in batches if needed. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, using the back of a spoon to help push the liquid through. Transfer to a pitcher. Add the sugar and lime juice. Top off the pitcher with the remaining water. Stir to combine and season with more sugar and lime juice if needed.

    Serve immediately with ice or chilled. Mix before serving. The best day it is made, but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
